<*markuz_> ¡Gracias!
<*gustavo-JS> thanks!
<*gustavo-JS> :)
<*gustavo-JS> *ok, i will contact
<@Jinx|Core> @gustavo : or send me a PM on the forums and i’ll make sure u get in contact with the right people, nice work by the way ! and a great community site u have there
<*schlu> Q: Another question about the multilanguage thing. Johan improved the toolbar helpbuttons to be aware of that, but currently the 3pd’s have to serve all translations of the help in the core package. It would be better if this could be bundled with the component languagefile. Anyting planed here?
<@Predator> the helpfiles of 3pd’s can be put into
<@Predator> a help folder inside the component
<@Predator> the help system looks into administrator/components/com_comp/help/
<*schlu> yopp, currently doing this. But I have to put all translations into it. even the user doesn’t need them.
<*ian_mac> yes… but it would be nice if they could be put in the help folder and compartmentalized by language… then the help path generator would automatically pick out the right one for the current language…
<*schlu> or have to advise them to upload the files with ftp…because of that the question about bundling with the languagefile packs
<*ian_mac> so the files would have name screen.componentname.html etc…
<*schlu> yepp ianmac
<@Jinx|Core> @schlu : good ideas, could we continue this discussion on the dev forum ? happy to take a look and make changes
<*schlu> yepp…had allready a post about this one…will continue it there
<@Jinx|Core> oke, probably missed it, i’ll try to pick it up
thx johan
<@Jinx|Core> no probs, good suggestions are always welcome
<@webImagery> indeed
<*ian_mac> any plans on an example MVC component? many of them don’t use the model…
<*ian_mac> and none really use the backend MVC…
<@webImagery> admin components have not really been refactored to mvc
<@Jinx|Core> yep, i’m putting in the last changes to the MVC framework today and then i’ll move all frontond components to the MVC
<@Jinx|Core> at the moment, the best one to look at is the weblinks component
<@webImagery> that one is always the example :)
<@Jinx|Core> this is the one i use as POC
<@webImagery> same
<@webImagery> :)
<@Jinx|Core> i’ll convert the backend for weblinks too
<@webImagery> actually… com_installer is *close*
<@webImagery> to using the current mvc now
<@Jinx|Core> yep
<@webImagery> and com_menus is *close*
<@webImagery> i got overzealous
<@webImagery> but its like an addiction
<@webImagery> once you get into this MVC thing
<@webImagery> you really dont’ want to look at it another way
<*evulish> ha
<@webImagery> :)
<*Romit> Q: will FTP be enabled for 1.5 Final ??
I’m out as well… thanks for the information!
<*Romit> windoes//
<*Romit> ws//
<@webImagery> you mean on a windows server?
<*Romit> yep..
<@webImagery> hmm…. not unless there is a very compelling argument for it
<@webImagery> :)
<*Romit> i.c. so it will be enabled ?
<*evulish> heh
<@webImagery> lol
<@webImagery> not unless someone can prove to me that is necessary in a majority of cases
<*Leandro-JS> are you planning to improve the menu creation organization? About organization of parameters in new menu screen
<@webImagery> you mean what things are in basic vs. advanced ?
<@webImagery> Leandro-JS: ^^
<*Leandro-JS> yes, i think
<@webImagery> Yes we do plan to reevaluate what parameters are “basic” and which are “advanced”
<@webImagery> I really want to find a way to get a consensus from the community on this
<@webImagery> some of those things are used a lot
<@webImagery> some are not
<@webImagery> some are mostly useless
<*Leandro-JS> well, actually i think there is no uniformity
<@webImagery> we need to find a balance
<@webImagery> there isn’t
<@webImagery> the system was implemented but at that time we were just testing out the separation
<@webImagery> to put it plainly…. we haven’t even done a first pass
<@webImagery> at this point its just musings
<*Leandro-JS> ok, thanks
<@webImagery> I would like to have a community group discuss it and make proposals actually
<@webImagery> we will discuss it and see how we proceed
<@webImagery> good question though ;)
<@webImagery> anyone else?
<@webImagery> That being the case…. I guess this meeting has come to conclusion
<@webImagery> :)
<@webImagery> Thanks all who came and participated
<*Diego-JS> just one last question
<*Diego-JS> what it feels to won by one point ?
<*Diego-JS> :P
<*Diego-JS> vs Drupal
<@Jinx|Core> to be honest, i don’t consider it a win, more a recognition
<*Diego-JS> good answer , you have honor Jinx
<*Diego-JS> hahaha
<*Diego-JS> thanks for the chat guys
<@Jinx|Core> both the London LinuxWorld and Packt award are in the first place a user voted event, to me the fact that Joomla! won means that Joomla! really matters to people
<*alext> it matters to me!
<@Jinx|Core> isn’t that what we stand for ? … because open source matters !
<*alext> open source matters!
<@Jinx|Core> oke guys thnx for the chat, see you on the forums or on one of the many community events

Joomla! 2006 Open Source Content Management System Award Winner
Publicado por gustavo - 14/11/06 a las 10:11:26 pmPackt Publishing today (14 November) announced Joomla! as the the winner of the 2006 Open Source Content Management System Award.

With 16,000 votes for more than 70 different Open Source Content Management Systems nominated for the award, Joomla! was judged winner of the final. After eight weeks of voting from visitors to www.PacktPub.com and judges from The Open Source Collective, MySQL, the Eclipse Foundation, and CMSPros, Joomla! triumphed with the most votes, winning $5,000. Joomla! is the youngest CMS of the five finalists having originated by the then Mambo development team in August 2005. Joomla! was chosen due to its ease of installation and use along with the active development and community that supports the project.
Core team member Alex Kempkens said the award was a wonderful surprise. “I would personally like to thank Packt for their contribution to the Joomlasphere — by publishing Joomla! guides and by running such a successful competition,” he said. Alex added that Joomla’s winning ways should also be attributed to the excellent work of Hagen Graf as author of the book published by Packt. “Open source software writing is not an easy task and I’d like to take this opportunity to thank Hagen and all of the other authors who contribute to publishers and make these books available for the community.”

Greetings from Mambo Communities and Mamboserver.com.
We at Mambo Communities (MC) are working on a new and exciting Content Management system (CMS) called “Mambo Pro”. This system will feature many new features such as:
- Improved Modules
- Improved Coding
- More user friendly administration components
- More add-ons
Over the past few months we at the MC have been planning and test fitting a new CMS system for the pubic which includes many improvements. Before we can go into mass release we need your help.
We at the MC are looking for volunteers to contribute in the following categories:
- Development: Developing coding application and modifying existing code. In addition you will be able to put valuable input into what modules should be included, not included and improved.
- Testing: Testing Mambo Pro before it is released to the public. You will also be specifically testing Mambo Pro’s new add-ons and modules
Bailando al ritmo del Mambo Pro! si .. si.. mambo pro! :P
Publicado por gustavo - 05/11/06 a las 12:11:47 amHello Infograf786.
First off we at Mambo Communities (MC) will be going with a GPL license status. Our office will be dealing with these details and I will ask them to reply here with new news.
As for Mambo Communities being a commercial venture, I do not see the MC as one.
Mambo Communities is being lead by the founder, Peter Lamont. Peter’s former company Miro founded “Mambo”. Some time ago the Mambo-Foundation was created and they bought the rights from Miro (Peter was still the President of the Foundation). After buying the rights a short time later a group of members decided it was best to create a new support forum (Mamboserver was the official support forum before) without informing Peter. After this the Foundation has basically shut Mambo Server and Mambo Communities out of the project and has in my personal view killed mambo as a whole.
As of a result of the move to a new forum, the number of users using mambo has declined. After the split a large number of developers and staff in general left the Foundation including my self for personal reasons.
We have decided to bring life back into Mambo by lunching a Mambo Pro project which will be a branch of Mambo. This project will have improved coding, more modules, and the current modules will be expanded upon.
One example is the “Web links”. They are a mess; we have already put plans in place and the code to improve it a great deal for our Mambo Pro Release.
We are not associated with the Mambo Foundation, this is a Mambo Communities project. We plan to stay with the Mambo code as of right now and provide much clearer support, more modules, better atmosphere, and a new look.
As for the last question, I will have someone explain the situation from our legal department or the office.
Sorry I could not answer some of your questions, I will have someone reply.
Thank you for your interest in this project,
Keith.
